Monthly books
Monthly bookkeeping with job costing by fence type
If the books only get caught up before the tax return, you're running the company on the checking account balance. That number tells you what you have today. It doesn't tell you which jobs paid for it.
What's in the monthly close?
Every transaction is categorized. Every bank, card and loan account is reconciled to the statement. By the 15th you have a P&L, a balance sheet and a job report for last month.
The job report shows what each job brought in and what it cost you to build, broken out by fence type. You see what's left after materials and crew on every job, before the office.
At year end I prepare the 1099s. Each month you get one 30-minute call with me to go over what the numbers say.
What does it cost?
The price is set by how many transactions run through the books in a month.
- Up to 150 transactions a month
- $650 a month
- Up to 400 transactions a month
- $1,250 a month
- More than 400 transactions a month
- $1,500 a month
When do I need controller work?
Once you're over about $4M, running several crews, or a lender or buyer is reading the books. Books + Controller adds a schedule showing which jobs are billed ahead of the work and which are behind.
It also adds accruals, a 13-week cash forecast, budget against actual, a lender package and a review every quarter. It's priced after a free call.
What if my books are behind right now?
Then you start with a clean-up, and monthly books pick up from the first clean month.
