What's usually wrong with the books?

Crew pay sits in overhead, so the jobs look far better than they are. Materials never get tied to a fence type, so you can't tell whether vinyl or chain-link carried the year. Customer deposits count as revenue before the first post goes in.

Example: a $20,000 job with $6,000 in materials shows $14,000 left, or 70%. Move the $8,000 of crew pay out of overhead and onto the job, and it left you $6,000. That's 30%.

What do I do about it?

I move everything where it belongs, then keep it there. Every month I reconcile your accounts, close the books by the 15th and cost each job by fence type. You see what's left after materials and crew on every job, before the office.

Clean books are like a square first post. Everything after it either lines up or it doesn't.

Where do I start?

If your books are behind, you start with a one-time clean-up, quoted after a free call. Monthly books start at $650 a month. Companies with several crews, or a lender reading the books, add controller work on top.

Who is this for?

Fence and specialty trade companies doing $1M to $8M a year, anywhere in the US.

If you're at $400K and invoice twice a month, you don't need me yet. Keep the receipts and call me when you add a second crew.

What happens before the first call?

I work inside StashGrade, a finance tool built for fence companies. It reads your QuickBooks before the first call and scores it, so I start with a list instead of a guess.
